Hole in the Wall Theater P.O. Box 942 New Britain, CT 06050-0942 For immediate release Contact: Barbara Gallowbgallow@snet.net860-667-7744 (cell) 860-833-2924 (New Britain) – Reefer Madness, a drug menace threatening the American way of life, is alive and well and coming to New Britain. May 11th through June 2nd, Hole in the Wall Theater presents Reefer Madness, the musical satire based on the 1936 propaganda film of the same name. With a book and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and music by Dan Studney, Reefer Madness tells the tale of teenage Jimmy's fall from grace, set against the canvas of the 1930s ideal, in a twisted, nothing-sacred romp that mixes quick laughs with memorable songs. A cast of colorful, engaging characters and the story of just how dangerous the "demon weed" can be create nothing short of madness -- reefer madness! "Meant to be a serious documentary on how the demon weed turns apple-cheeked American teens into hollow-eyed homicidal zombies, the movie's unintentional humor made it a midnight movie staple on college campuses in the '60s. But while the move is so glaringly bad, the…musical of Reefer Madness...is deliberately outlandish and silly. And that's what makes it so good." -- NY Daily News Reefer Madness runs May 11, 12, 17*, 18, 19, 24*, 25, 26, and June 1, 2 at 8:00 p.m. (there are no Sunday matinees for this production). Tickets are $25 for general admission, $18 for students and seniors. Performances on the second Friday (May 18) and second Thursday (May 24) are free, although donations are gladly accepted.
